Illegal Betting Organization Dismantled in Buenos Aires

The Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Gambling of the City (FEJA) dismantled a clandestine organization that took illegal bets. For the fact, four people were charged with exploiting, administering, or organizing a gambling system without authorization from the competent authorities.

The case arose from a video that circulated on social networks showing a group of young people walking in the 21-24 neighborhood who casually pointed out that a house was functioning as an illegal casino, which later began taking bets through websites.

Thus, the Prosecutor's Office, led by Juan Rozas, began the investigation with the support of the Judicial Investigation Corps of the City, Police, and the City Lottery, confirmed to the Argentine News Agency.

As a result of the investigation, two addresses were identified that operated as a branch of a cyber-betting platform, with a dynamic that "combined the collection of bets through the internet - through unauthorized platforms - with in-person attention to bettors and without any mechanism for player protection or prevention of access by minors".

During the raids, authorized by Court PCyF 19, documentation, cash money were seized, and four people were identified, who were charged with exploiting, administering, or organizing a system for the collection of gambling games without authorization from the competent authority, according to Article 301 bis of the Penal Code.

With the commitment to prevent the dissemination of illegal platforms, FEJA recalls that a simple way to recognize authorized sites in Argentina is to verify that they operate under the ".bet.ar" domain.
